Focuses on health promotion in the context of the family including reproductive issues, pregnancy, labor and delivery, post-partum, the newborn and the child. Focuses on management of care for clients with perinatal complications, high-risk newborns and the ill child. Integrates concepts of health promotion, disease prevention, pharmacological and therapeutic interventions throughout the course. Prerequisite: Completion with a grade of C or better in NIP 110 and NIP 115 and FHM 100 and AHS 100. Students must have Basic Life Support certification, current liability insurance coverage and current immunizations for the duration of the course. Prerequisite or corequisite:NIP125 and NIP130. Lecture: 2 credits (30 contact hours). Laboratory/Clinical: 1 credit (45 contact hours).
