This course focuses on the principles and practices of operating Sports, Arts and Entertainment venues and recreational facilities. Emphasis is on the management of such facilities, in addition to security, staffing, operations, budgeting and other related areas. This course also focuses on the technical demands and methods for equipping and operating sports, arts, and entertainment venues. Prerequisites: SAEM major; SAEM 201, SAEM 202. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Analyze different ownership and management structures and how governance relationships impact operational management. (2) Examine the booking process, the entities involved, and the importance of relationships especially as it relates to ethics. Also, analyze management's role in developing and maintaining a safe and secure public assembly venue as a responsibility of al venue management. (3) Create marketing and sales strategies for both a public assembly venue and an event that is booked in the venue. (4) Verify the ancilary revenue sources for an event, and create a pro forma. (5)Synthesize the event planning process and how it is used to produce an exceptional event experience for guests and clients.
