This class will examine the foundation of sports, arts, and entertainment event management. Students will understand concept development, site selection, marketing, budgeting, sponsorship and volunteer management for events. The course will address major trends and successful business practices in event management today. Prerequisites: SAEM 101 Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Determine the committee and volunteer structure necessary for an event based on its complexity. (2) Research potential venues, rental companies, decorations, and other elements for an event. (3) Interpret best practices of event planners and how to incorporate social responsibiltity into their event plans. (4) Effectively utilize technology tools i,e., software, apps, etc, in order to create event plans and budgets. (5) Execute a complete event plan and present it to the class.
