Reconstruction and its impact on Black America. Course Objectives (1) Understand the history of America from the Compromise of 1850 to the end of Reconstruction. (2) Analyze slavery as an institution with peculiar American characteristics and its importance to the South economically and politically. (3) Inspect the important battles, military strategies and leaders of the American Civil War. (4) Dissect the successes and failures of Reconstruction and its legacy.
