This course provides students with a forum to develop choreographic skills, culminating in a completed work. A journal will document the process, and a thesis will conclude the work process. The course also provides guidance and structure for hands-on work in the areas of production, rehearsal and promotion areas which are essential to the performance of the work. Course Objectives (1) Maintain responsibility for the completion of the choreographic project (2) Choose dancers that will fulfill the choreographic needs of the work (3) Deal with diverse personalities of cast members (4) Handle in an organized and professional manner all aspects of bringing this project to completion in a performance and learn to work on a collaborative basis as an interactive team with all personnel involved in the completion of the project (5) Provide evidence of work done by documenting, in a Journal, the entire work process, which should be minimally thirty hours (6) Provide a Final Paper (3 pages typed) with sources quoted and additional pages for a bibliography (7) Complete the work of choreography on schedule for a public performance (8) Discuss their work in a public forum
