This course provides thorough analysis of the knowledge base, and current practice in middle/secondary school literacy in the content areas. Emphasis is on curriculum integration, current technology and strategies that enable students to become independent learners. Special emphasis is on individual differences among readers, as well as the social and political implications of global literacy perspectives. Social Science majors will be required to take this course as a portion of their methods block. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education, 90 credits. (F)
