This course is an introduction to the structure, properties, processing, destructive and non-destructive testing, and engineering applications of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, polymers, composites and ceramics. The laboratory includes mechanical and physical testing, metallographic procedures, heat treatment, surface treatment and failure analysis.
