This course offers the student the opportunity to develop knowledge and instructional strategies for teaching reading to students of diverse cultural-linguistics backgrounds. Special emphasis will be placed on developing oral language proficiency as a prerequisite skill to reading and on instructional strategies designed specifically to meet the needs of such learners.
