The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the components, standards, and protocols associated with personal computers. Students will study the various PC configurations and technologies including microprocessors, motherboards, power supplies, bus configurations, peripheral devices and others. A hands-on project requiring students to design and build a personal computer will also be part of the course. Upon completion of the course, students will have a basic knowledge of and understanding of the following hardware components, concepts, and applications: system resources, Random Access Memory, CMOS RAM, disk devices, printer drivers, and system protection.
