The morphology, classification, growth, physiology, and genetics of Microorganisms are covered, with emphasis on bacteria. Control of bacterial growth with antibiotics, antiseptics, and disinfectants are also considered. Pathogenesis of diseaseācausing bacteria and the role of the immune system in protection from disease are studied. This course satisfies the microbiology requirement for nursing schools.
