This course presents the relevance of chemistry in everyday life, particularly in applications to environmental problems such as air pollution, ozone depletion, global warming, energy, water purity and acid rain. Fundamental concepts in chemistry introduced on a need-toknow basis include stoichiometry, atomic structure, chemical bonding, states of matter, electrolytic solutions and chemical reactions. This course meets the common core requirement in natural sciences. Laboratory fee required: $17. 2 additional laboratory or activity hours per week.
