A concentrated study of the important free-living, marine and estuarine invertebrates of the Mississippi Sound and adjacent continental shelf of the northeastern Gulf of Mexico with emphasis on structure, classification, phylogenetic relationships, larval development, and functional processes. Prerequisites: Sixteen hour of zoology including at least an introductory course in invertebrate including at least an introductory course in invertebrate zoology. (5 credit hours)
