The fundamental postulates of quantum mechanics and their applications to selected systems. Topics include one- dimensional systems, perturbation theory, three- dimensional sytems, angular momenta, one-electron atoms, Hartree-Fock formalism, variational principles and quantum theory of scattering. Spring of odd years only. Prerequisites: PH 231/031; MA 245; or consent of instructor. (3 credit hours)
