Description:
This advanced course will deeply investigate literacy in the Spanish classroom, research methods and application and use of technology to improve language instruction. It will examine strategies for developing literacy in the Spanish language focusing on text selection, comprehension and critical analysis. Topics include using reading and writing processes to choose and evaluate class materials, select appropriate texts, develop integrated curricula and assess the effects on student learning. Teacher practitioners will be evaluating and synthesizing the current research trends in the field of language education, as well as conducting their own action research project. There will be a strong focus on reflection practices through a videotaped lesson and self assessments. Fieldwork may be required for some candidates, as determined by the Program Coordinator.
