Description:
In this advanced course, teacher practitioners will focus on literacy in the secondary English Language Arts classroom, research methods and application, and use of technology to enhance instruction. There will be a strong focus on reflection practices through action research, a videotaped lesson, and self assessments. Topics include the exploration of how proficient reading works, media literacy, the use of non-traditional texts, and methods for student assessment. Teacher practitioners will also be evaluating and synthesizing the current research trends in the field of English education. Fieldwork may be required for some candidates, as determined by the Program Coordinator.
