This course provides an introduction to the field of Special Education. The course examines the learning and behavioral characteristics of each category of exceptionality, as well as the sociocultural issues, problems, and trends affecting educational programming for exceptional children in mainstream and self-contained classrooms. Field visits to special education facilities are required. Required for dual certification students. Recommended for all teacher education majors. Offered every semester.
