The First-Year Seminar course is specifically designed for students who place into EL0210, Basic English. This course will cover similar material to the FY1000 courses. It will provide an intensive orientation to the College at Old Westbury. It is designed to empower students to be active learners and to assist them in clarifying and reaching their educational goals. Topics will be explored related to learning about the campus and academic life, such as critical thinking, campus resources and activities, time managment, text preparation, note-taking, study techniques and personal issues.
