From Samurai to businessmen: a survey of Japanese history and culture as seen in the literature of Japan from before the days of the Samurai warrior to the world of the modern business corporation. special emphasis on aspects of Japanese culture that remain important today: the question of Japan as a country of cultural "imitators"; the relationship between the traditional importance of groups in Japanese society and Japan's enormous industrial success; and the signficance of the Japanese emphasis on skills of art and violence-once so admired in Samurai warriors and still highly valued today.
