Lecture/lab course designed for students preparing to enter nursing school. The lecture material pertains to structure and morphology of microorganisms, growth and reproduction, bacterial metabolism, diseases caused by microorganisms and various methods of control. The laboratory exercises deal with staining methods, sterilization, identification and characterization of unknowns, and control of microbial populations by physical, chemical, and biological agents.
