Description:
This course will introduce students to a range of issues that contribute to violent crimes against women. Through readings and lectures, students will be exposed to theory and research about the relationship between gender and sexism, power and privilege, homophobia, and oppression and violence against women. Students will be challenged to think about how they, as bystanders, have the power and responsibility for intervening in violent situations. Students who enroll in the course will be certified to participate in sexual and dating violence prevention education at Santa Clara University.
