Explores the impact of immigration to the United States, particularly the effect of the immigration reform law of 1965 that resulted in large increases in immigration to the United States particularly from Latin America and Asia. This wave of immigrants and their U.S born children have significantly changed the fabric of American society. This course examines case studies of immigrants and the second generation from Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Haiti using a comparative sociological perspective.
