Introduction to the artistic cultures of India, China, and Japan from the Neolithic period through the early twentieth century. Course explores various media in the context of Asian literature, politics, philosophies, and religions. The first half of the class focuses on religious arts from the Neolithic period through the 14th century, and the second half on secular arts from the 14th century on.
