This course concentrates on the physical production of vocal sounds. It is designed to enable the student to analyze their vocal production and develop a plan for improvement. Topics to be covered include: the physical process of voice production; vocal health issues; vocal characteristics of pitch, rate, volume, and quality; articulation; pronunciation; International Phonetic Alphabet, dialects, and accents. This course is designed to develop vocal abilities for career and everyday communications. Also available as SPE 106. (Usually offered Fall semester.)
