This course will introduce the fundamental concepts and characteristics of industrial robots. Topics such as robot architecture, kinematics and capabilities will be studied. Features of end effectors, programming methods of both servo and non servo robots, typical applications and major manufacturers will also be considered. Laboratory sessions will involve "hands on¿ programming with teach pendants and personal computers and determination of typical robot operating parameters leading to the operation of work cells. (Usually offered Fall semester.) Prerequisite: Elementary Algebra
