An introduction to the handling of technical data. Scientific functions of the hand held calculator and basic use of the personal computer are covered. Topics include scientific notation, significant figures, and computation by means of the calculator and computer. Basic use of the Computer Operating System and electronic spreadsheets for both computation and plotting graphs are included. (Usually offered Fall and Spring semesters.) Prerequisite: MAT 005
