Description:
The study community is to study people living in and identifying with a particular place and to give special attention to the type, quality, and basis of their interaction. Such a broad definition includes much of the subject matter of sociology, so it is not surprising that community theory and research have played a major role in the development of American Sociology. Sociology has at its core a foundation for understanding community. This course examines the concept of community, different approaches to understanding community, community and the quality of life, and studying the community. (Offered Fall and Spring semesters, and Summer on line.) Prerequisite: ENG 099 or waiver through testing.
