The second of four calculus based general physics courses supporting the customary baccalaureate science or engineering degree requirement. The subjects covered in PHY 172 are centered on electromagnetic phenomena. Topics include static electricity, fields and potentials, capacitance, resistance, DC circuits, RC circuits, magnetic forces and fields, induction, RL circuits, AC circuits, RLC circuits, and Maxwells equations. (Usually offered Spring semester.) Prerequisites: MAT 120 and PHY 171. Co requisite: MAT 121 Meets SUNY General Education requirement for Natural Sciences (N)
