Description:
This course is designed to provide the student familiarity with the methodology and equipment used to analyze a wide variety of environmental hazards in teh workplace such as air, radiological noise to hazardous chemicals, and chemicals. Equipment sensitivity, instrument calibration, and operation parameters are discussed. Appropriate safety and protective equipment needed when acquirieng samples and making measurements using a variety of recording data, statistical data treatment,and report generation will be addressed. Topics will include air and water sampling, oxygen level analysis, combustible gas analysis, noise analysis and analysis of acids, alkalis and oxiders. (Usually offered Fall semester.) Prerequisites: AAC 042, ENG 099, MAT 005 or waiver through testing.
