Description:
This course will deal with communication skills that are necessary in dealing with patients in the physician's office setting. Taking a medical history or interviewing a patient prior to the physician's examination warrants the need for good communication skills. The understanding of verbal and nonverbal skills will be stressed. Patient rights, difficult or hostile patients, dealing with stressed patients, and obtaining useful information for the physician will be some of the topic areas discussed. (Usually offered Fall semester.) Prerequisite/Co requisite: MED 101 and MED 135
