This is an introductory course that deals with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) regulations as they apply to the physician's office. An overview and interpretation of these rules and regulations will be presented. Students will be required to know the laws, implications and guidelines that must be followed in this type of employment. These topics will be stressed through out the Medical Assisting program. (MED 103, MED 104, MED160, MED162, MED 261, MED 262, BIO 221, and BIO 240). (Usually offered Fall semester.) Prerequisites/Corequisites: MED 102 and MED 135
