This class will assist you in the application of the theoretical and practical coding knowledge presented step-by-step. There is ample opportunity to practice the skill of coding in three levels. First, theory, includes medical terminology foundations; secondly, abbreviated medical diagnosis descriptions which includes practical applications of coding; and thirdly, original reports which represent more complex services and diagnosis descriptions such as operative, pathology, radiology and emergency services. The class will include: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT); International Classifications of Diseases, 9th revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM); Official Coding Guidlines; CMS Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).
