The lead worker course consists of 16 hours of training with a minimum of 8 hours dedicated to hands-on activities. The course includes background information on lead and its health effects; Federal, State and local regulations; complying with a lead abatement plan; lead hazard recognition & control; lead abatement activities & hazard reductiion; restricted practices; interior dust abatement/cleanup; soil & exterior dust abatement; clearance metholds and waste disposal methods. Students are required to be able to wear a respirator and it is recommended that students bring copies of 29 CFR1910 & 1926 standards. Certified abatement workers may conduct abatement activities under the direction of certified abatement supervisors. Qualifications for cerfification: 1) Pass an EPA - accredited abatement worker course.
