The scuba diving course is designed to teach students how to plan and execute safe scuba dives. This course leads to international diving certification. The certification card allows the diver to participate in dives and rent equipment anywhere in the world. In order to complete the requirements for certification, students will attend six three-hour sessions. Each session is approximately one hour of lecture with the remining time devoted to pool practice. Lecture topics include: snorkeling gear, physics and physiology of diving, effects of pressure on the body, scuba equipment, dive tables and 'rules of the road' for planning dives, diver's stress, environment, ocean environment, dive planning and training dive procedures and freshwater diving. After successful completion of the class sessions, the pool requirements and a written test, the student may participate in two days of open water training with their instructor. Upon completion of the five open water activities over the course of two days of diving, the student will receive the NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) certification. NOTE: Students must purchase their own personal equipment, e.g. mask, snorkel, fins, weights and weight belts. Optional $75 for gear rental for five training dives. Call Dip-N Dive at 837-3483 for more information.
