This course is designed for members of the community who may come in contact with Deaf or Hearing Impaired people in the course of their workday. It is appropriate for doctors, nurses, medical students, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, hospital employees and medical receptionists, among others. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about deafness and basic communication strategies. The student will learn pertinent information about deafness and hearing loss and how it affects a person's ability to communicate and function within a hearing community. In addition, basic communication strategies will be taught.
