A self-directed program designed specifically for those individuals who wish to change their career directions but are unable to attend classes during the traditional college hours. Students must be able to meet with the instructor one time per week for three to four hours during a 15-week period and must fulfill weekly requirements as scheduled by the instructor. The program includes medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and completion of medical reports and summaries using a transcription machine and computer. Graduates are well prepared to find employment in a doctor's office, hospital, clinic, or at home as a self- employed transcriptionist. Prerequisites are keyboarding at 40 words per minute and knowledge of word processing and access to a home computer are required.
