Description:
This course represents the first semester of a two-semester study of topics in General Biology. Initial emphasis is placed on the chemistry of living organisms. This knowledge is applied to the second major area of study, the cell. Energy utilization, protein synthesis, cell structure, and general cellular metabolism will be discussed. The third major area of emphasis will be the study of the classification, structure, and function of representative members from the five major kingdoms of living organisms. Meets SUNY General Education requirement for Natural Sciences (N)
