Informative but non-technical, ENG149/ANT 149 examines a variety of issues in the study of language, from the origin of human language to the differences between human language and animal communication systems, from the complex structure of grammar to the intriguing operation of meaning, and from language learning and teaching to patterns of linguistic behavior in different social and psychological context.
