Description:
This capstone course aids the practical nursing student in the transition from student to licensed practical nurse. The content focuses on the concepts and principles associated wtih leadership, delegation, team leading, professionalism, and selected nursing and healthcare issues. Sections of the WV Nurse Practice Act associated with practical nursing, including role, scope of practice, licensure, discipline, and continuing education, are studied in detail. Students attend at least one professional continuing education activity and participate in, at least, 2 community service activities. Preparation and review for the NCLEX-PN licensing examination is offered with emphasis on computer testing skills, and the various content areas included in the examination. Application of course content is provided during supervised clinical lab experiences in LPNU 131LN and LPNU 133LN.
