This course introduces the student to the basic concepts, principles, and skills necessary for the practice of practical nursing. It is designed to provide the foundation of knowledge for providing basic, holistic nursing care to individuals with predictable healthcare needs. Emphasis is placed on the use of the nursing process to assist students develop critical thinking skills and to meet the physiological, social, and psychological needs of hospitalized patients. Application of course content is provided during supervised clinical lab experiences throughout the program of study.
