A basic study of English mechanics and grammar, including basic sentence structure, sentence variety, recognition and avoidance of common grammatical errors, designed to prepare students to express themselves effectively in writing. This is not a General Studies eligible course. This course is required of students who score less than 9 on the ACT English mechanics/usage subtest or COMPASS writing diagnostics score of 75% or below. It may be taken concurrently with ENGL 098, 099, OR ENGL 101
