Sleep is a basic need for human survival. We sleep daily and yet there is so much unknown about how sleep works. Sleep is a science: a biological and behavioral science that impacts both psychological and physiological functioning. In this course you learn about a variety of topics crucial to the field of sleep medicine including: sleep changes across the life span, sleep hygiene, sleep deprivation, clinical sleep disorders and treatments. You gain understanding with what is known about sleep as well as how to integrate the importance of sleep into your daily life. Prerequisite: Psych 100B.
