Topics courses in American Culture Studies are offered routinely and examine aspects of our culture from various disciplines and often through multidisciplinary approaches. Courses previously offered include: 19th Century American Indian Literature; Hurricane Katrina: A Case Study in Disaster and Relief; The History of Popular Culture in the United States; Mark Twain: Humor and Politics in 19th Century; and American Presidential Rhetoric. Courses are sometimes team-taught or combine community service with learning. Faculty includes WU professors, visiting scholars, community leaders, or advanced graduate fellows in American Culture Studies.
