Intermediate painting focuses on the processes and concepts of oil painting. It is a structured course with an emphasis on perceptual studies as well as an overview of historical and contemporary painting issues. Students are expected to possess good drawing skills and a beginner's familiarity with oil painting techniques. Critical readings and homework assignments are an important part of the course. Prerequisite: a beginning painting elective or permission of instructor.
