Description:
This course is one of three modules required to earn the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association's 475 Hour Marine Technology Certificate. Concentration will be on inboard, other two required modules: Marine Technology Fundamentals inboard/outboard, stern drive, and diesel engines. The automotive differences among the engines, as well as their various cooling, exhaust, gearing, propulsion, and hydraulic systems are presented. Participants learn the theory, operation, controls, maintenance, and troubleshooting skills for marine diesel engines. Instruction includes both lectures and hands-on training. The other three modules: Marine Technican Fundamentals, Marine Technician Outboard, and Marine Technician Boatyard Skills will be offered during following semesters. Through this program, assistance in gaining a position in the recreational marine trades is offered by the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association.
