If you are a manager, what is your responsibility for employee's health? Do health issues have an economic impact on your organization? The obvious answer is "yes". Human resources, training, employee retention, work culture and building and maintaining an empowered, motivated workforce are on everyone's mind. Should an organization have key measurable health objectives and strategies? Ask any athletic coach and the answer is "yes". As a business person, why wouldn't your answer be a BIG YES? Healthy eating and an active lifestyle can help one to reduce the risk of heart disease and some forms of cancer; elevate one's mood, energy and self-esteem; and reduce every day anxiety and stress. We know that it is important for an employer to provide a safe and healty workplace. Did you also know that it is important to encourage healthy lifestyles among employees? Healthy eating programs are a great first step. A healthy eating program can bring a diverse group of employees together to learn how to improve their health.
