Description:
This one semester course will provide medical coding students advanced education in Medical ICD and CPT coding through lecture and computer laboratory. This course will include interpretation of medical and surgical procedures retrieved from medical records. Students will learn to appropriately code information for medical and surgical procedures, diseases of the various body systems, pregnancy, childbirth, injuries and burns. Students will learn to accurately code using coding manuals, textbook, and medical coding software. Lecture: 2 hours Laboratory: 2 hours Prerequisite: Introduction To Health Insurance/Billing and Coding (MEDA231) or Permission of Instructor
