Description:
Students examine an introduction to the basic issues involved in the serious enjoyment (appreciation) of film. The nature of the medium, its early history and development, the elements of film criticism, and basic issues in film theory are explored. Using concepts developed in the course, students view, study, and analyze selected film masterpieces. Field trips to area movie houses are arranged when possible. Prerequisite: Preparing for College Reading II (ENGL092) or waiver by placement testing results.
