Institution:
Massasoit Community College
Subject:
Business Skills-non credit
Description:
Multitudes of resources and materials are available to interior designers as they begin to make decisions about room layout, function and feel. Participants learn the design and durability aspects of a variety of fabics, upholsteries, window treatments, rug, floor materials, brick, stone, laminates, table and counter tops, plants and lighting options. Also the effect of various colors and color combinations on the above materials is discussed in detail. Finally, this course defines the more elusive but critical element of design - the desired "feel" of the room. Basic elements of Feng Shue are presented in terms of the above. Individual and team projects are assigned, using the information and elements discussed in class, as well as information gained from a field trip to Jordan's Furniture in Avon.
