Description:
This course is part of a rotating three-course introductory certificate designed for a better understanding of the interior design and decoration business, open to both individuals interested in advancing or changing their careers as well as the general public. An overview of interior design career options and all aspects of the business are presented such as: layout, traffic patterns, sound, lighting, furniture, function, materials and color. Emphasis is placed on all aspects of furniture: history, evolution of period designs, types of wood and current styles. Also, skills and tools of the trade such as blueprints, two and three dimensional software available and presentation boards are discussed. Instruction is a combination of lecture, hands-on projects and field trips to Jordan's Furniture in Avon. Our instructor is a professional designer credentialed at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Needed supplies (approximately $25) are discussed at the first class.
