Description:
This course will present an overview of the animal-like protists and select members of the animal kingdom. Students will explore the characteristics of the animal phyla through lecture discussions, lab exercises, Internet explorations, and student presentations. Included will be an examination of the ecological and evolutionary relationships of various animals. The course will endeavor to build students' strengths in the core competencies of critical thinking, computer skills, oral communication, quantitative skills, reading, and writing and, therefore, includes several assessments toward those ends. Lecture: 3 hours Laboratory: 2 hours Prerequisites: Preparing for College Reading II (ENGL092), Introductory Writing (ENGL099), and Fundamentals of Mathematics (MATH010), or waiver by placement testing results, and Grade of "C-" or better in Biological Principles (BIOL121), or Departmental Approval
